Medical Grade Peels
MEDICAL GRADE PEELS
Medical grade peels are deep skin exfoliation and hydration treatments that improve the skins appearance. These peels offer a deeper cellular turnover compared to our ASAP Cosmeceutical Peel Collection. It is important to note that there is more downtime with these peels. We offer a unique combination of medical grade facial peels that have immediately visible results: your skin is hydrated, rejuvenated and you look and feel younger.
WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INVOLVE?
During a Medical Peel treatment your skin will be thoroughly cleansed to remove any impurities or makeup. Your therapist will perform a thorough skin assessment before selecting the percentage peel that is most suitable for your skin. The peel is applied to the treatment area using gauze and is then left on the skin for up to 12 hours before being removed with water at home. You will feel a tingling/prickling sensation in the first few minutes after the peel application, this will subside quickly.
TYPES OF MEDICAL GRADE PEELS
JESSNER PEEL
This solution is a mixture of 14% resorcinol, 14% salicylic acid, and 14% lactic acid dissolved in ethanol. Jessner solution is primarily used for the treatment of acne and hyperkeratotic lesions. Jessner Peel is a synergy of effective acids that help reduce the appearance of melasma, freckles, acne and mild cases of rosacea. It is also an excellent choice for minimising signs of ageing and fine lines and wrinkles. The recommended frequency of treatment depends upon the severity of the initial skin condition and the number of layers of the peel applied.
TCA PEEL
TCA is a widely used peeling agent, and its effects vary based on concentration, the number of applications during a session, and whether it is used in a solution. TCA primarily addresses photodamage, actinic keratoses, lentigines, fine rhytides, and superficial acne scars. These peels are a superficial peel which exfoliates and removed part or all of the epidermis to the basal layer.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
JESSNER
We recommend having 3-4 peel treatments at 4 week intervals. This should be followed by maintenance treatments every few months.
TCA
We recommend having this peel as a once off treatment. This should be followed by an annual maintenance treatment.
HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?
Results from a Jessner and TCA can last for years depending on how well you care for your skin afterwards.
WHO CAN HAVE THIS TREATMENT?
Medical Peels are not suitable for those who have been on Roaccutane in the last 6 months, have open wounds at treatment site, infections, rosacea, psoriasis or dermatitis in the area to be treated. Medical Peels are also not suitable to have while breastfeeding and nursing.
WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT COST?
Jessner $189
TCA $189
PRE AND POST CARE INFORMATION
Day 1-3 mild to moderate erythema
Day 2-5 Skin crusting and darkening
Day 2-10 Visible exfoliation
Immediately following a medical peel treatment your skin will be lightly flushed. We recommend that you do not wet or apply makeup on the skin for 12 hours post treatment. Depending on the type of peel, you may experience mild through to severe skin shedding from day 2-14. We advise that you do not prematurely pick at or exfoliate the dead skin as this may cause scarring or post inflammatory pigmentation. Once the skin peeling is complete you will see a dramatic improvement in your skin’s complexion. Over the next four to six weeks the skin’s appearance will be enhanced further. The skin will look more vibrant, clearer, firmer, and healthier.
