Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive skin treatment that buffs away the outermost layer of the skin to create a smoother and younger appearance. After the treatment, a new layer of skin forms. Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive epidermal resurfacing procedure used to treat uneven skin tone/texture, photoaging, stretch-marks, melasma, and scars, including acne scars. The microdermabrasion process also helps to encourage the production of collagen, which keeps skin firm and young-looking.

WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INVOLVE?

Our state-of-the-art medical micro-dermabrasion equipment operates by carefully gliding a diamond-encrusted tip across the surface of your skin, effectively eliminating obsolete, lifeless skin cells. It is performed using natural diamond-tipped wands that rotates to exfoliate the skin (similar to sand paper) with a suction action which hoovers up dead skin cells and unclogs pores.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Depending on your skin concerns your therapist may recommend fortnightly or monthly microdermabrasion’s. Multiple treatment sessions are usually needed to improve the appearance of fine wrinkles and minor acne scarring. As microdermabrasion only acts on the outermost skin layer, it is not as effective as aggressive therapies – such as chemical peels and laser resurfacing.

HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?

Results from your microdermabrasion treatment last several months but may last longer depending on how well you take care of your skin after treatment. Having regular ongoing microdermabrasion’s will stimulate the body to produce new layers of skin containing higher levels of elastin and collagen. This, in turn, improves the complexion and gives the skin a more radiant, vibrant glow year round.

WHO CAN HAVE THIS TREATMENT?

Microdermabrasion can be safely performed on all skin types (fair to darker skins) and is safe to have if pregnant and nursing.Microdermabrasion is not suitable for those with cystic acne, open wounds, infections, rosacea, psoriasis or dermatitis in the area to be treated.
